Handmade Books

Sun Mar 16, 2008, 11:50 AM
Hello!

I took a book making class for two semesters and have been making personalized sketchbooks and journals/notebooks ever since. Each book is filled with new, found, and recycled paper chosen for it’s character and all the papers chosen have a particular color scheme.

The pages are then sewn into an older re-used hard cover book that has had it’s pages removed so that the end result is a unique one-of-a-kind book filled with colourful pages and little surprises. I find sketchbooks can be intimidating with their blank pages and these little books give me far more ideas than any normal sketch book… but that is just me!

I’ve included some pictures in my gallery of my own little book with some of my favourite pages that I have pasted references on and things like that. Some of the other pager are still not written on.

If you are interested in having one of these handmade books then please let me know. The starting price would be around $25.00 and would go up depending on how thick you want the book to be but I am flexible about price. I am also more than happy to customize the book to your preferences ie: color choices, size and kind of paper, etc. Books are usually 6 x 8.5 inches but can be made smaller or larger and this will influence price.

So please give me a shout if you are interested or if just like handmade books and zines!

Cheers!

-Vanessa.

Thank you so much! Saville is a huge inspiration for me in both the execution of her work and the content behind it.
